My Fort Flagler Bear

While on a special camping trip over Memorial Day Weekend, a Teddy Bear called to me from the shelf in the little store in the Park. I couldn't resist him and he is now a permanent fixture in our Motor Home.

Happy 9th Birthday to Cassidy

On June 24, 2009 Cassidy turned 9 and she was pretty excited. We all went to see the new 3-D movie "UP" and all enjoyed it. I
t is very emotional and very uplifting. What a fun way to celebrate a birthday.
We also went to the Old Country Buffet for dinner, and of course ate more than we needed but were happy.

On Friday June 19, 2009 Rylee graduated from 6th Grade in Elementary School. It was a lovely ceremony and the whole family was there to wish her well.

Next year she will be in Middle School and a whole new program ahead. The ceremony was good and then they showed baby pictures of the graduates followed with a picture of who they are now. It was very well acceped, with much comment amongst the graduates.

Life is a bowl of strawberries

Life is a bowl of strawberries. On Sunday June 21, 2009, Father's Day we went to a farm about twenty minutes from Lynwood, Washington and picked 20 pounds of strawberries. The "We" consisted of Grandma, Grandpa, Momma, Daddy and three wonderful granddaughters. The picking was pretty easy. They gave you a huge box and pointed you in the direction of the strawberry fields. Then you bent over and started picking the sweetest berries in sight. Some of the participants were able to pick and eat berries as fast as they could. Every once in a while they would put berries in the box. But Grandma is allergic to strawberries, so she just picked and put them in the box. I think the time we spent was a little over and hour. We were all surprised when we weighed the boxes and found out we had 20 pounds. It was really a fun exercise for all of us.

Then it took several hours to picked the stems off each and every berry. Grandma, Momma and granddaughter Cassidy hung in there till the last and we felt pretty good about a job well done. The berries needed to be washed and spread some in the freezer to freeze seperately. We also made strawberry freezer jam and everyone said it was great. The bowl of strawberries pictured above was such a lovely sight. It was a very fun day.
